But it's true.
After reading about it this morning I can't say that I am surprised how it all turned out. Yul definitely had things running as he saw fit. What's more, I expected Ozzy to give him a run for the money when it came down to the physical challenges. Additionally, I kind of hoped Ozzy would win. At face value, My impression is that Yul already had a lot going for him but Ozzy was working as a waiter trying to get through school. Turns out that it was Yul's command of the game that actually won him the grand prize.
Congrats to him. From what I've been reading, there aren't too many people that were all that impressed with the way the final tribal council was held. Since I didn't watch it, I won't weigh in. But, from what I've read, I would probably agree that I most likely wouldn't have appreciated it all that much.
So what was I doing that prevented me from watching Survivor? I watched a miniseries called, The Lost Room. It played last week on the Sci-Fi channel. It looked kind of interesting and they replayed the entire miniseries on Sunday starting at 4pm. It was a three-episode series. It's a pretty interesting series with a fresh story.
It stars Peter Krause as Detective Joe Miller. One of the suspects in a murder investigation is in custody of a motel room key. Det. Miller tracks down this suspect. as the suspect takes his last dying breath, he gives Det. Miller the key.
This is no ordinary key. It is an object.
Any door, with a standard doorknob and keyhole, can be opened with the key. When the door is opened it reveals an average, run-of-the-mill motel room. However, when you open the door to exit the room, you are taken to wherever you choose. The key isn't the only object from the motel room. There are lots of others, perhaps as many as 100 objects. They are special too. For example, there is a ball point pen that can incinerate things as if they were microwaved. There is the glass eye that can either end life or heal it depending upon the user's wishes. There is a nail file that can put your enemies to sleep and a comb that stops time.
It isn't too hard to imagine that objects such as these may have a high value associated with them and are largely sought after. The whole story revolves around the fact that Det. Miller has an adorable little girl named Anna with a bit of a curious streak. She finds the motel key and starts experimenting with it. It seems that whatever gets thrown into the motel room disappears when the door is shut and reopened. During a routine psychiatric evaluation of his daughter requested by Det. Miller's ex-wife who is seeking custody of her, Ann is kidnapped by someone who wants the key and is holding her as hostage. Det. Miller manages to get a hold of his daughter and he attempts to escape using the key. Anna, however, gets trapped in the motel room.
Through a bizarre series of companionships, agreements and events not without drama Det. Miller seeks the answers he needs to get his daughter from the room. Det. Miller is suspected of murdering his daughter so you can imagine that this just adds an extra twist to things as he must avoid law enforcement while trying to find his daughter.
I highly recommend this miniseries. It is fast-paced and will keep you on the edge of your seat. It features a great cast including Kevin Pollak, as a deceptive and sinister mega-zillionaire who wants to end his son's leukemia at any price by finding all the right objects. Additionally, the gorgeous Julianna Margulies stars as a member of "The League" which is a group of people who seek to collect all the objects and hide them to protect humankind.
